Sleep in Day!

One of the best parts of traveling and vacationing, if not the best, is the food. No matter what region of the planet you go to, there are always different types of food. Food can represent a culture or a nation. It can give you a glimpse into the life of the people that are cooking for you. Food can be a hobby for those that eat it and cook it. Food can be an experience as you travel about. Food can be all of these things or just part of these. No matter where you go or what you do there is one universal truth to food; it brings people together for a bonding experience that seems to unify the group. A couple days ago camp had the opportunity to have sleep in day. Campers were able to sleep in an extra hour while the staff prepared breakfast in bed. When the staff came back with breakfast everything seemed to go much more smoothly. Wake up was easier for the campers who had breakfast practically sitting in their laps. Finally as we all gathered around in a circle to eat it seemed easier to talk. We did not have to talk over an entire mess hall. There was no program to worry about, nor were there any announcements or fighting for seconds and thirds. Campers and staff just sat around talking as if it was a morning around the breakfast table at home. It may not have been some foreign dish from around the world but it was certainly food that brought a cabin closer together as a single unified group. This kind of experience gives a sense of belonging. An experience everyone enjoys.
