A loud bell rings. People run from all directions; yelling, screaming. Chaos: these are the first moments of summer.
As the white bus pulls up to the top of the hill, one’s perspective shifts drastically. We, counselors and campers alike, have been waiting for this moment all year. Familiar faces along with new ones are welcomed and embraced. Summer has begun.
Counselors are quick to greet their new cabin mates. Handmade nametags are distributed and acquaintances are made. Some have known one another for years, and others are eager to find new friends to join. Camp is alive and buzzing.
As night falls, all seven cabins along with outdoor camp and travel camp merge into the campfire circle. Loud music resonates, vocal cords vibrate. All are given the opportunity to introduce themselves, a chance to “show their stuff”. Together, we sing and dance at the campfire until, alas, yawning mouths replace singing voices. As cabins contently, sleepily walk back to their accommodations for the next twelve days you experience some sort of resonant excitement. We fall asleep, without saying what we all know to be true, as to not jinx it. That is, (It’s going to be a great session!!)
Let's see some great pictures of all the new campers, counselors, and CIT's
